Emphasis is on the use of an industry-standard workstation, although comparisons are made to the administration of other popular servers. Working with an industry-standard server, students study the concepts behind network architecture including such topics as network design and protocols, server hardware installation and configuration, client administration, file systems, storage configuration, backup, and remote access. Students explore Internet and Intranet services, multiple domain management and remote access services. An introduction to the fundamentals of major PC-based microcomputer operating systems. Through a comparison of how these products manage microcomputer resources, this course is designed to provided students with insights into topics covered in subsequent programming and application courses. This course in public speaking and basic communication theory is designed to increase student’s self-confidence and communicative ability. Focusing upon the preparation and delivery of informative and persuasive speeches, the course emphasizes the development of vocal quality, diction, listening skills, and audience assessment.
